It was a historic occasion for the newly-built Rajasthan State Scout Training Centre in Jagatpura, where the 4th Asia-Pacific Region Advanced Management Course (AMC) was held from 3rd to 9th March 2010. The Scout building, situated at the outskirts of Jaipur, popularly known as the Pink City, blends well with the city with its pink palace-like façade. This is the second time India is hosting the advanced course after it first hosted the course in 1995 in Bangalore.

Bharat Scouts & Guides National Commissioner L. M. Jain, together with Chief Commissioner Atul Kumar Garg and Regional Director Abdullah Rasheed inaugurated the course. In his remarks, Chief Commissioner highlighted how management has become a household word and how it is practiced by everyone in all spheres. He said 「to get trained in the art of management is a continuous process and effort – it is more of learning by doing, learning from success and failures, and learning from the experiences of others.」 He added, 「management courses become relevant for the purpose of learning the tools, skills and strategies to become successful managers.」 He concluded that to become good managers, everyone must begin believing in themselves.

The ongoing AMC has attracted 19 participants, mostly from various States of India together with participants from Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Nepal, Singapore and Thailand. It will run for seven days covering the major topics in management, qualities of an effective national Scout organization, risk management, dimensions of organizational structure, managing people for best results, learning organization, change management, marketing of Scouting and growth, PR and Media Relations.

Facilitating the course is a team of well-experienced local and overseas resource persons led by APR Director Prassanna Shrivastava and Dr Mohd Effendy Rajab from The Singapore Scout Association.
