World Scouting appoints New Regional Director for the World Scout Bureau, Interamerican Regional Office.

Following an open process carried out in collaboration and agreement with the Interamerica Regional Scout Committee, Luc Panissod, Secretary General of World Scouting appointed Mr Raul Sanchez Vaca, from Mexico as the new Regional Director of the World Scout Bureau, Interamerican Regional Office.

Mr. Raul Sanchez is 41 years old, married and father of one. He is of Spanish mother tongue and has a strong command of English. He also has an accomplished educational background, holding a Chemical Engineering degree from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico and a masters in Business Administration from the Instituto Panamericano de Alta Direccion de Empresas. He also holds many certificates for voluntary service such as the Social Service Award 「Gustavo Baz Prada」.

As a Scout, Raul began Scouting, at the age of 13, when he joined Scout Troop 77 of the Scout Association of Mexico. He then became a Troop Leader at the age of 18. Since then he has succesively occupied the position of Scout Group Leader, Provincial President and member of the National Board. In 2002, he was appointed Chief Scout, a volunteer position and in 2005 the National Board asked him to become Chief Scout Executive of his association, a position he has held until now.

Thanks to his Scout and non-scouting assignments, Raul is familiar with all the facets of management, including strategic planning, budgeting, monitoring and assessment. Throughout his career Raul has developed a strong ability to lead teams focusing on achieving objectives. He is recognized for his competence in communicating with young people, and for his coaching and mentoring ability.

Mr Raul Sanchez will take office on April 1, 2010
