6th APR Scout Youth Forum ends with useful recommendations and fresh innovation

26th October 2009, Kuala Lumpur – The 6th APR Scout Youth Forum that provides an opportunity for young members the opportunity to discuss and express their views on issues affecting them ended on 25th October 2009.

The youth forum had 107 young people comprised of 39 delegates, and 68 observers from Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Scouts of China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kiribati, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Macau, Polynesia and guests from Timor Leste, Uganda and Finland.

PPM council member YB Berhormat Dato Dr Mohamad Shahrum bin Osaman was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony. APR Scout Committee Chairman Jejomar C. Binay also congratulated all the participants and commended them for giving their best in contributing to the discussions for useful recommendations at the conference. He commented that the concept of the YAMG has greatly evolved giving YAMG a 「different feel」 every conference year.

He congratulated the newly-elected Young Adult Members Group for 2009 – 2012 at the closing and he was joined by the World Scout Committee Vice-Chairman Simon Hang Bock Rhee, World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) Secretary General Luc Panissod, Regional Scout Committee Vice-Chairman Mohammed Ali Khalid, members Dr Mohammed Mukhyuddin bin Sarwani and John Ravenhall were also present.

The 6th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Youth Forum is an ancillary event of the 23rd Asia-Pacific Regional Conference that provides a learning environment to young people through discussions on interesting topics and sharing of experiences. It also gives relevant input and recommendations which will be presented to the regional conference for consideration and adoption.
