550 participants from 18 Arab nations call for peace during the 18th Arab Rover Moot.

Salalah-Oman August 2009 - Over 550 participants from 18 Arab nations have gathered together in Salalah under Scouting's umbrella. The occasion is this years 18th Arab Rover Moot that will be held from the 6-16th of August. The theme for this years Moot is “Calling For Peace”.

The program of the 18th Arab Rover Moot promises to be different from the previous Rover Moots in the region. Mr Khalid Al-Adi who is in charge of the Moot this year briefly gives us a picture of the various activities and a general overview of the site that has been developed for this year.

There are 3 offsite camping sites with different activities at each site. The Rovers have been subdivided into 3 different groups and will be changing locations daily. Among the activities there is a unique 12 kilometre course with various obstacles strewn across it and is aptly named “Challenge Valley”.

As for the Rover site there is a Global Development Village where NGO's and ministries will present their different projects. There is also the Arabic Village and the Technology village all of which are located in Salalah. It is to be noted that the Technology village will initiate its first International Rover Moot over the internet and radio.

Mr Al-Adi also emphasises that there will also be an “Arabic Day” event which will allow the participating countries to showcase their traditional dances, songs and also the opportunity to present projects from their respective countries.
