APR Management Sub-Committee makes important moves

13 April 2011, Taipei -- The two-day meeting of the Asia-Pacific Region Management Sub Committee begins today in Taipei to review their achievements based largely on the Asia-Pacific Regional Plan for the past 18 months and to set directions for the remaining 18 months of their term.

Presiding the meeting is Sub-Committee Chairman Janaprith Fernando with 11 members in attendance representing 11 countries. APR Director S Prassanna Shrivastava is facilitating the meeting.

The agenda covers various areas that include a review of the regional basic management courses, framework on disaster management, guideline on services provided by NSOs and IT support.

Part of the discussion is the formation of APR panel of specialists or resource pool which aims to provide customized technical support and consultancies to member NSOs, and to finalize the formation of Chief Scout Executives (CSE) network and exchange program for executives.

In the evening of 12 April, Scouts of China Chief Commissioner Dr Chao Shou-Po hosted a welcome dinner for the members and expressed his appreciation to Chairman Janaprith Fernando for choosing to meet in Taiwan. In return, Fernando thanked Scouts of China for the very warm reception with well wishes for the success of the upcoming 28th APR Scout Jamboree from 11-17 July 2011 in Taiwan. He also expressed his greetings on occasion for Scouts of China on their centenary year of Scouting.
