Bhutan Community Scouting goes green

Bhutan Scouts Association recently organized its first major environmental project participated by more than 80 Scouts who dug up trenches, holes and made flower beds for over 1,000 plants including hedges, ornamental plants and bamboos. Chief Commissioner Chencho Dorji actively supported the project.

This environment project is an initiative of newly established community Scouting groups across Bhutan. Since the formation of community Scouting in May 2009, there are now three active troops in Kuenphen, Zhenphen, Raven and in various parts of Thimpu. There are 138 registered members and the plan to expand membership to other districts.
