Scout Executives learn management principles

Scout Executives from different national Scout organizations in the Asia-Pacific Region are now in Bangladesh for the 48th APR Basic Management Course at the National Scout Training Center in Gazipur District.

This course, which is now running from 2 to 16 February 2010, is based on a two-week syllabus designed to equip participants with management principles. The course focuses on various Scouting elements in the area of management. So in the coming days, discussions will evolve on strategic management, human relations in an organization, conflict management, PR and media relations, events management, among others.

The course was inaugurated by Mr Abul Alam Md Shahid Khan, Vice President of Bangladesh Scouts and Secretary of Primary and Mass Education of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. Also present were Mr Janaprith Fernando, APR Management Sub-Committee Chairman; Regional Director Abdullah Rasheed and Md Mozzamil Haque, Bangladesh Scouts acting Chief Commissioner.

At the initial integration session, Regional Scout Committee Vice-Chairman Prakorb Mukura spoke before the 38 participants from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand and expressed his hope that every strategy they will learn from this course will translate into practice in their Scout associations.

Md Nazrul Islam, Bangladesh Scouts Executive Secretary and Mr Prassanna Shrivastava, Director of WOSM/APR are serving as the Course Director and co-Director respectively. Among the resource persons is Dr Effendy Bin Rajab from Singapore.
