Regional Scout events kick off in Malaysia today

The regional events scheduled to start later this month in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia kicked off today. Among the three events, the prestigious APR Course for Leader Trainers is the first of the series of events to be followed by the 6th APR Youth Forum to be concluded by the regional conference itself.

The CLT kicks off today with 44 participants from overseas from 12 National Scout Organizations, led by an international training team of six members from Australia, Japan, UK, Canada, Malaysia and APR. The local participants add up another 19 from most states of Malaysia. The course director Haji Rahmat bin Jafaar from Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia (PPM) is also assisted by four facilitators from Malaysia. The course venue is the popular International Youth Centre of Malaysia (IYC), where the Youth Forum will also be held.

At the opening ceremony, PPM National Training Commissioner Tuan Hj Abdul Shukor bin Mohsin was the guest of honour in the presence of APR Adult Resources Sub Committee Chairman Ms Reiko Suzuki, and from Malaysia, including IYC Director Dato Raja Ruslan Samah, Chief Scout Executive Zaki Nurud-din, and International Commissioner Dr Mukhyuddin bin Sarwani.

The course will be of seven days, finishing on 25th October. A combined international night of the CLT participants will be held on 24th night together with the participants of the APR Youth Forum. The course participants will also have the chance to see the city of Kuala Lumpur on a full-day educational tour on coming Friday.
