Scouts of the World Award ceremony in Ireland
The Scouts of the World Award encourages a stronger involvement of young adults in the development of society by making them more aware of the present world issues and to help National Scout Organizations revitalise the programme of Rover Scout section. In this context, a group of sixteen Rover Scouts from Dublin, Ireland have made a lasting contribution to primary education in India and in doing so became the first Irish Scouts to achieve the Scouts of the World Award.
Their project entitled 「The Rainbow Challenge」 addressed the issue of access to primary education in the developing world, in line with the 2nd Millennium Development Goal. As part of this project, the group spent three weeks in North-Eastern India, working in partnership with the Sisters of Loreto. There they introduced Scout activities and principles in a school for orphaned street children in Kolkata and built new classrooms for another school in a poor rural community in the Meghalaya region. In addition, over the course of a 14-month programme of fundraising activities, the group succeeded in raising over EUR30,000 in direct financial support to ongoing projects in favour of primary eduction in this part of India.
The group was presented with their SW Awards by the Chief Scout of Scouting Ireland, Mr Michael John Shinnick, at a special ceremony at Larch Hill Scout Centre in Dublin on Saturday 14 November. Ms Therese Bermingham of the World Scout Committee was also in attendance.

Indonesia hosts the first APR Disaster Management Workshop16 November 2009, Jakarta -- The very first Asia-Pacific Regional Workshop on Disaster Management officially opened in Cibubur Scout Complex in Jakarta today which will run until 19th November 2009.
Asia-Pacific Region lies in the "Ring of Fire」 which continuously hit several natural disasters like earthquake and tsunami.

Scouts of the World Award Voluntary Service in SingaporeOn the framework of the Scouts of the World Award (SW Award), the Singapore Scout Association has developed the second SW Award Voluntary Service: the Project Orion. Project Orion is a two-week Youth Expedition Project supported by the National Youth Council, Singapore. Organized by eight Rover Scouts from The Singapore Scout Association and one Rover Scout from The Scout Association of Malaysia (Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia) in collaboration with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Malaysia, the project aims to promote turtle conservation in Setiu, Terengganu, and the development of the nearby village, Kampung Mangkok. The Setiu Wetlands is the largest nesting ground for painted terrapin (Callagur borneoensis) and is amongst the few remaining mainland nesting sites for the green turtle (Chelonia mydas), both of which are endangered species. The wetland is also a major aquaculture area and plays an important role for the local villagers' livelihood. The project gave the team a chance to be an important part of the community and ecosystem. They were involved in assisting rangers in night patrolling for turtle nestings, hatchery work, and hatchling release amongst others. The team also planted a total of 1000 mangroves saplings along Setiu River as part of the UN's Billion Tree Campaign. The team also raised funds for a portable stainless steel hatchery to replace the current wooden structure. ]]>

World Scouting launches three new versions of its web siteMany people have a difficult time accessing information from the World Wide Web. In a lot of cases, a weak local telecommunications infrastructure means that connections to the Internet are very slow, making downloading information from many graphic-rich web sites nearly impossible.In other cases, particularly for visually impaired people, web sites are often not well-adapted for the types of special Internet browsers or monitor settings that they need to use. Additionally, there are more mobile phones in the world than televisions and PCs combined! Millions of people are using their mobile phones to connect to the Internet. The IT team in the World Scout Bureau has been looking into ways in which we can help in these situations. ]]>國內新流感疫情蠢動，從下週一（11月16日）起，新竹市免費的H1N1新型流感疫苗開始施打第二階段之對象。 ]]> ]]> 一、依 據：依據本會九十八年度工作計畫實施。

三、個人因健康需要之藥品請自行攜帶。
十二、工作人員及帶隊服務老師活動期間，請准予公（差）假登記，並於一六個月內在不支領代課鐘點費及不影響課務前提下自行擇日補假，全程參與之工作人員及帶隊老師核給研習時數12小時，請於活動前自行至教師研習系統登錄。

APR Scout Conference elects new Committee membersFive people were elected to a six-year term from 2009 to 2015. They were: Azrul Azwar (Indonesia), Chao Shou Po (Scouts of China), Sang Ho Shim (Korea), Shree Ram Lamichhanne (Nepal), Nicholas Tang (Singapore). Continuing their mandate in the Regional Scout Committee for the remaining three years are Dr. Mohammed Mukhyuddin, Vice-chairman (Malaysia); Prakorb Mukura, Vice-Chairman (Thailand); Syed Pervez Ali Shah Jillani (Pakistan); M Fazlur Rahman (Bangladesh) and Manabu Hiratsuka (Young Adult Members Group). 23rd APR Scout Conference shows Scouting's globalityThe opening of the 23rd APR Scout Conference on 27th October 2009 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia showed Scouting's staying power and its globality as the Scout Association of Malaysia hosted the regional conference after a gap of 45 long years.
